Thomson Reuters Compliance Learning provides practical, interactive, customizable and cost-effective compliance training programs, which assist in changing behavior and supporting a culture of integrity.

Project Objectives

Training staff in banks and financial institutions on anti-money laundering concepts and techniques is an annual regulatory requirement, and is critical for safeguarding financial institutions against the increasing threat of financial crime across the globe.

Thomson Reuters Risk division required an innovative solution to engage employees in the financial services sector and further their understanding on the topic of money laundering.

The project aimed to develop a new, game-based Financial Crime – Middle East course in English and Arabic for a Middle Eastern audience, to complement the existing off-the-shelf Financial Crime – Middle East course offered to Thomson Reuters clientele. The project was based on material developed by the Thomson Reuters team.

Multimedia Factory Solution

After analyzing the requirements, Multimedia Factory proposed the development of a simulation with three characters in a fictitious bank in the Middle East presented with day-to-day compliance challenges. The character look-and-feel, their dress code and the questions were tailored to the country that the user specifies he belongs to. The user navigates through the storyline, exploring rooms and interacting with different characters and objects to further understand their challenges and the situation at hand. After unveiling the issues at the bank, and completing the material reading, the user is presented with 10 randomly generated test your understanding questions at the end of the module. Passing the quiz (by scoring 80% or above) would reveal the fate for each of the characters based on the choices they made in the game. The course is fully branded with Thomson Reuters logo and corporate colors.

The results are published onto the Thomson Reuters Learning Management System.

Results

The project was completed on schedule and on budget with positive feedback and uptake. Thomson Reuters and Multimedia Factory are partnering for future game-based course development.
